What Are You Waiting For?
I am not an advocate for the phrase ‘self made’ because I truly believe no one got to the position they are by themselves. That goes for anyone, somebody somewhere gave you a hand whether it’s by paying your school tuition, taking you to sports practice or helping you to look after your children just so you can take important business meetings.
Despite our differences in opinion I understand why people use the phrase because irrespective of the level of support given to some, they still can’t make anything meaningful out of life which is one of the sad parts of human existence given the fact that there are others with the very least amount of help that turned their lives into unparalleled achievement.
If you haven’t read the 21 Success Secrets of Self Made Millionaires by Brian Tracy then I don’t know what you are waiting for. I am sure you have heard different ways to achieving success but I suggest you listen how Mr Tracy helped to facilitate the process.
Success in anything you do starts with the greatest discovery in mankind which is YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT, to some it might seem far fetched but truth is the naysayers are in denial or perhaps don’t believe it is feasible.
I have heard a lot of testimony to support the idea that A Man Is As He Thinketh but none is more convincing than the legendary Hollywood actor Jim Carey’s. In 1985 when he was dead broke, he wrote himself a cheque for $10 million and kept it in his wallet everyday driving around Mulholland Drive Los Angeles visualising himself cashing the cheque, In 1995 it all came to reality when he made $10 million for the movie Dumb & Dumber.
After thinking and visualising, the next phase is the ACTING. It is no good just thinking and visualising without putting it to action, it becomes day dreaming otherwise. It is imperative to act like you are what and where you want to be, worrying about the price of everything for example invites poverty into your well being. The easiest part is to become a success and the hardest is holding on to it. If you don’t get yourself in that frame of mind by acting it, success can very easily isolate and destroy you.
The most important part of achieving your financial freedom is the not the THINKING or ACTING. We can think and act all day but if you don’t SACRIFICE something, you are just wasting your time.
By sacrifice I mean hard work, be prepared to be very uncomfortable. As a wise man one told me ‘When things stagnate you must disrupt‘, you have to get ready to get out of your comfort zone, lose friends and sometimes families along the way to success. If you are worried about dropping your kids off at school or living not too far from work, family and friends or wanting to spend time with them you will not become successful period.
With Sacrifice comes another valuable part to financial freedom which is PERSISTENCE. Success don’t happen by mistake, it is a deliberate design that is only achieved over a very long period of time in which repetition of the process to get to your destination is necessary.
Finally, the part which everyone dread the most is RESPONSIBILITY. I have seen a lot of situations where grown up adults refuse to grow up, remember that contrary to what people think it is 10 times harder to hold on to money than it is to make it in the first place so you have to choose which way to go; earn to spend in form of frivolities or earn to accumulate in form of ownership?
