Blog 76: Is The Bible Contradicting On Its Views On Homosexuality. Leviticus 20:13 vs John 3:16

Homosexuality

As a christian I find myself questioning certain views on the bible and religion in general, hence the question Is the bible views on homosexuality blurred?

Yesterday I went with my family to visit a friend for Christmas dinner, a few drinks in the topic of same sex relationship arose and my take on this was rather baffling (to them) to say the least.

I find the bible’s views a little confusing and here’s why?

In Leviticus 20:13 it clearly states ‘the act’ of homosexuality is forbidden, it says ‘If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them’.

Please be mindful  that the confusing part for me on my next example is the word whoever.

In John 3:16 it says  ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life‘.

According to dictionary.com whoever means no matter who.

So hypothetically speaking, if a gay man whose ‘only sin’ is been gay according to Leviticus 20:13 but this man does everything else the right way. He gives to charity, believes in God, helps the homeless and serves the community with everything at his disposal, will he still be perished?

I thought John 3:16 says ‘whoever’ believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life? I thought whoever includes homosexuals but I might be wrong.

I know a lot of gay people and a satanist, believe me when I say these guys have turned out to be some of the best people I have come across. In the aftermath of Haiti crisis they made themselves available (especially the satanist and his coven) way more than the Christians I know.
