Entrepreneurs Are The Key To Closing Wealth Gap In Black Community, Not A Job.

The unequal distribution of wealth and assets among distinct race group is a real problem that has plagued human existence for several centuries.

In a world where half of humanity is living on $5.50 a day, the richest 1% (almost all are non-blacks) have more than twice the combined wealth of the 6.9 billion world’s population, according to Oxfam International study.

The chasm in the financial system, rigged to favour a select group, begs for urgent attention as to how the wealth divide can be bridged. Since blacks are in the bottom of the totem pole, the black community need to devise a system to close the abyss of poverty we have been marginalised to be accustomed to.

It is still a wonder that in this day and age, the conditioning of “going to school to secure a well paid job” is still been propagated to the younger generation as the way to a better economic life, like in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

While there’s nothing wrong with securing employment with good benefits, but having a job is not and never will be the answer black people need as a collective. Especially if after school, your time and expertise is sold to the wealthy 1% for and hourly pay or a salary.

In other words, the wealthy 1% are not employees. So why do we still seek to be employed even when it is clear that going to university and getting a job is not helping to close the wealth gap?

The answer is most of us have not been taught how to play the game of capitalism. In order to participate, building a capital base which is difficult to do as an employee is highly imperative.

Becoming an entrepreneur is the right direction to take, if there’s any hope of closing the egregious wealth divide.

In lieu of preparing our children to become employees by the school system, perhaps a curricular on how to start businesses, investing in real estate and the stock market would be a better option?
