Blog 76: Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman’s Divorce Bill.

Andre Young (a.k.a Dr. Dre) was the soundtrack to our lives growing up. Some may disagree but it is just what it is. With his talent and more than three decades of giving us hits after hits, he amassed a net worth of more than $800 million. Most of his fortune derived from the sale of his Beats headphones brand to Apple, a deal he made more than $500 million net. Two month ago, Nicole Young, his wife of 24 years filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. What made the news was her egregious monthly divorce settlement she is seeking from her estranged husband.

While it is imperative to have your business and finances in order, having the right partner is way more important than securing your wealth.

So let’s unpack the list of demands presented to the judge as Nicole’s monthly expenses.

Laundry and Cleaning: $10,000 probably makes sense taking into consideration the huge estate she probably resides. Her wardrobe probably cost a pretty penny, house maids, house managers and cook also included. That amount is reasonable for what she is used to. I remember once Mike Tyson said it costs him $15,000 a month just to mow the lawn and back yard of his vast estate now owned by 50 Cent.

Clothes: $135,000 makes no sense not because it is too much to spend on clothes but why does she need that much fabrics in her already vast closet. Well heeled individuals spend more than that a month on their outfits but does not make it right.

Education (Tuition and Living Expenses): $60,00 a month. If it is for the kids then I get it because you cannot put a price on your offspring but that must be some expensive tuition for their two daughters.

Entertainment: No idea what sort of entertainment cost $900,000 a month. I am sure her celebrity friends don’t have the time to party everyday with her. Even if they do, it won’t cost that much monthly.

Charitable Contributions: What does her charity has to do with her estranged husband?

Mortgage: $100,00 a month. This is very possible considering their Zip/Postal code, not to mention the palatial estate.

Telephone, Cellphone & Emails: This is the second most outrageous demand of the list. In a world where you have Whats App for free video calls, unlimited calls from most mobile network providers for less than $50 and emails near free when you have a good Wifi package deal with your landline, I don’t see how she arrived at those numbers as her monthly bill.
